WHAT IS SIST?

Shifa Inter-Scholastic Tournament is a series of Islamically-themed competitions such as debates, art & design competitions (calligraphy, photography, short film/documentaries, etc), nasheed (Naat) & recitation competitions, youth brain-storming of ideas / research project presentations, and many more.

Through these competitions, we wish to provide the young generation with a venue to explore their varied talents and to re-discover their rich culture and roots. In an era where everything from our values, ideals, and beliefs to our aspirations and goals are shrouded with false attires and where some youth may find hindrances to future success, we believe that hosting such events and opening such opportunities for the youth is an honorable responsibility. Furthermore, the event will also serve as an opportunity for students from different institutions to meet and exchange ideas.

Our Objective: With the event, our aim is to provide a platform for the young minds who are trying to find their place in society to engage in intellectual discourse and come to the realization that Islam is a way of life - a way of life that can and should be incorporated into everything we do.
We, as the youth, have noticed that one of the problems we face is that we live a dual personality in which we have completely separated our interaction with Islam from our professional life.
Therefore, each year, with a new theme, we want the participants of SIST to discover that Islam is not a roadblock to professional success and in fact it is strong imaan that paves the path for all accomplishments - both in this life and the hereafter.

Theme for SIST 2015: United We Bow, What Binds Us is Greater than What Divides Us

Theme for SIST 2014: Revive the Light Within, Let the Change Begin
Theme for SIST 2013: Six Feet Below & Beyond
Theme for SIST 2012: Mission Submission: Bow Down to Rise
Theme for SIST 2011: Best of Both Worlds

Thus, join us at SIST, on a mission to improve our imaan, perfect our submission to Allaah Azzawajal, and rise together to live up to our identity as true “Muslims”.

They will say, “Yes, why not – indeed a Herald of Warning did come to us – in response we denied and said ‘Allah has not sent down anything – you are not except in a great error’.” [Mulk 67:9]

“Surely the men who submit and the women who submit, and the believing men and the believing women, and the obeying men and the obeying women, and the truthful men and the truthful women, and the patient men and the patient women and the humble men and the humble women, and the almsgiving men and the almsgiving women, and the fasting men and the fasting women, and the men who guard their private parts and the women who guard, and the men who remember Allah much and the women who remember-- Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a mighty reward” (33:35).
