CATEGORY II: KNOWLEDGE & QURAN
REVIVING SUNNAH ON CAMPUS
Be it worship, social interaction, protecting the environment or even answering the call of nature, the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) provide guidance on all aspects of human life.
The Prophet (SAW) is reported to have said:
“Whoever revives an aspect of my Sunnah that is forgotten after my death, he will have a reward equivalent to that of the people who follow him, without it detracting in the least from their reward.” [Tirmidhi]
Reviving Sunnah on Campus is a competition/event with an aim to bring young people closer to the path of the Prophet (SAW), encouraging them to research the ways which are given in the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW) in order to deal with situations commonly encountered by the modern student on school/college campuses. In doing so, it is hoped that participants will come to appreciate the timelessness of the Sunnah and how it can be lived and applied even in this day and age.
This competition will be a chance for each team to pick a commonly encountered situation on institution campuses, or society in general, and prepare a presentation on how it should be handled in the light of the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW), giving references from the Ahadith.
You may also talk about how each one of us can make our professions/chosen career paths useful for the Ummah, with practical examples as to how you would go about doing this, bringing about a more far-reaching benefit than just making money.
Please Note: This competition is not to create 'How/What the Prophet (SAW) would have done in a certain situation', but to highlight what Islam already says about a certain matter and how to go about it.
Competition Guidelines:
1. Each group will consist of a minimum of 1 member and a maximum of 4 members. No more than 1 group from a team may participate.
2. Only 1 presentation may be submitted per team, which should be no longer than 5-7 minutes. The presentation can take any form: PowerPoint, Skit, Poem, short film (not already shown in other competition or shown solely) etc. Your entire team may assist in preparing the presentation, though only a maximum of 4 members will be allowed to present.
3. Your presentation should include your institution name and team name at some point if it is a PowerPoint video/ presentation.
4. The entries MUST be submitted 2 weeks prior to the tournament final date to the SIST COMMITTEE for approval at scmconference@gmail.com . No new entries will be accepted after the deadline or on the days of the tournament.
