STOP DEPRESSING AROUND!

What is Depression?

Depression is a common medical illness that affects how you think, feel or act. Depression
causes a person to lose interest in daily life things. A person who is depressed may not be
excited to see One-Punch Man figurine, see Kim Tae Hyung live, meet Jacqueline Fernandez in real life or hear the news of the Troll Hunter Season 4 release date. He may not be able to enjoy things that a normal person would love to.

Its symptoms include low mood or the constant feeling of sadness, decreased appetite, fatigue, feeling of guilt or suicidal thoughts.

Sadness is not Depression

Sadness and depression are not the same. Sadness is influenced a lot by some personal
experiences like the death of some precious one or loss of a job or any rejection. It may include some positive feelings like memories of the deceased or thinking that it was the will of Allah and better is waiting. However depression is a somewhat persistent sadness that lasts for more than 2 weeks. A sad person has self-esteem but a depressed person usually experiences self-loathing or worthlessness.

Causes of Depression

Depression can be due to genetics or environmental factors, such as a breakup, or some family insufficiency or loneliness. Nonetheless, always remember one thing that the situation doesn’t always remain the same. You may just have to look from another perspective and change your attitude. Then, many things can be resolved.

Treatment Of Depression

Depression can be treated through family support, psychotherapy, light therapy, exercise or drugs like antidepressants, antianxiety or antipsychotics.

Other than this, you can also help yourself to treat depression by finding some motivation or passion, by looking at the brighter side of life and strive for things that enlighten you. Make yourself a proper aim to work for. Don’t be astray, instead pave your road to light.

If you meet depressed people, don’t make fun of them, as everyone is not facing the same
circumstances. Instead, try to help them, bring a smile to their faces and become a support instead of a demote.

Some Advice

Life has many ups and downs. So if you are on the downs one day maybe you will be on the ups the other day. Hence, stop depressing around and enjoy this beautiful life bestowed by Allah. Don’t be depressed, don’t be a maniac, just be CHEERFUL. Be happy be strong, but if it feels too overwhelming and difficult to feel then don't hesitate to reach out for the help you need.
