ART ON-THE-SPOT
If you violate and/or do not fulfil any of the following rules, you could lose points or be disqualified from the tournament.
N.B. anyone who is in conflict with the rules or CAN NOT AFFORD the materials required to participate in the competition should contact the SIST committee at least a week before the competition.
Theme: Revive the Light Within: Let the Change Begin
Participants will have the first day of the tournament from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to complete their projects. The final pieces must relate to the overall SIST 2014 theme as stated above. Brainstorming, planning (sketches) and buying the necessary materials must be done before the beginning of the tournament. Acceptable mediums include, but are not limited to: watercolors, oil, crayon, mixed mediums, chalk, pastels, charcoal.
Competition Guidelines:
1. No more than 2 students from each team can register for this competition. This Competition is NOT a team effort. Each participant must submit a separate piece of artwork.
2. Depiction of human or animal figures is not allowed in any form except for silhouettes or shadows. Plants, landscapes, and inanimate objects are allowed.
3. All artwork must be clearly labeled on the back with the name of the participant, institution and team.
4. Participants must purchase and bring all necessary materials, from pencils to paper, themselves.
No more than Rs. 2500 can be spent on supplies. Please note that the SIST Staff will not provide any supplies to participants (unless participant cannot afford; refer to the notice in start). Failure to bring your own material will result in disqualification.
5. While you are working on your artwork on Day 1 (9 am - 3 pm) judges will come to see your work and guide you in the right direction. During this time, a short typed / hand- written explanation of the artwork, not more than 1 A4 size page (500 words max.) must be submitted. The explanation should include what the artwork is about and what inspired the participant to make it.
6. On Day 2, each participant will be interviewed for five minutes by the judges in order to describe the purpose and inspiration of the artwork. (Make sure your artwork is dry before submitting it to the judges.)
7. This competition will be judged according to the SIST ARTS JUDGING BALLOT.
8. If any participant wants to take their artwork back with them, they must inform the event managers at least an hour before the competition is over; otherwise it will automatically be assumed that the participant has surrendered possession of their artwork to the SIST Committee.
PLEASE NOTE: No requests for return of the artwork will be entertained after the competition is over. The work will be considered abandoned property and ownership rights will be transferred to the SIST Committee.
